The Computational Essay Workshops are a structured seven-session program that guides members from initial topic exploration to a polished, publication-ready computational essay.
- Workshop Schedule: The seven workshops are organized in three phases:
- Phase 1 — Orientation & Discovery (Sessions 1–2) Members are introduced to the computational essay as a medium and begin exploring potential topics. By the end of this phase, each member will have selected a topic and conducted an initial review of relevant literature. These sessions are conducted collectively across all research groups.
- Phase 2 — Planning & Development (Sessions 3–4) Members develop a research proposal and produce a structured outline for their essay. These sessions are conducted within each research group and led by Research Group Advisors who bring domain expertise to the development process.
- Phase 3 — Draft and Revision (Sessions 5–6) Members go through two rounds of structured feedback — first on a complete draft, then on a revision. This two-pass review cycle ensures that every member receives actionable feedback and has a meaningful opportunity to improve their work. These sessions are conducted within each research group and led by Research Group Advisors.
- Phase 4 — Review and Publication (Session 7) Members receive a final review of their computational essay and prepare it for publication to Wolfram Community. This session is conducted collectively across all research groups.

What Members Produce
Each workshop has a specific deliverable that feeds into the next session. Over the course of the program, members progressively build toward a complete computational essay — from initial topic reflection, through a research proposal and structured outline, to a reviewed and revised final draft ready for publication on the Wolfram Community.
